beautiful times of the year in Northern New Mexico. The Abiquiu
Studio Tour is a self-guided, driving tour that takes visitors and
collectors through the village of Abiquiu and the surrounding
Chama River Valley---a landscape of imposing mountains,
spectacular rock formations, and the glorious rivers of the Piedra
Lumbra basin. Complimentary maps are available at all the studios

Studio Tour web site or call 505 685-4449.
Inhabited for centuries by Native Americans before and after the
Spanish settled here in 1692, Abiquiu village is well-known
internationally as the home of the renowned painter Georgia
O'Keefe who made it her permanent home. A destination for visitors
who come to tour her house in the village and visit nearby Ghost
Ranch where she had a studio, the dramatic landscape that inspired
her artistry has continued to attract a steadily growing community
of traditional and contemporary artists.
On view will be a veritable timeline of arts and traditional
crafts from the signature micaceous clay artworks of the region
and Native American and Hispanic-inspired pottery, retablos,
santos and furniture to contemporary paintings, sculpture,
narrative and Southwestern works, photographs, jewelry, glass,
ceramics, textiles, and wearable art.
The range and quality of the artworks, the spectacular landscape,
and the welcoming atmosphere have made the Abiquiu Studio Tour one
of the most well-attended and successful events of its kind.
Experience the unique artistry of the region and explore the local
color at this celebratory 12th Annual event. Abiquiu is located on
US 84, about one hour's drive from Santa Fe or Taos.

the Valley's only Spanish Market featuring nearly 70 top Arizona
and New Mexico artists.
Artwork includes an array of santos, furniture, jewelry, tile
work, glitter art, tinwork, paintings, carvings, pottery and more.
The Market is FREE to the public and sponsored by Chase
with media support from Latino Perspective Magazine.
Prices range from under $10 to more than $1,000 offering options
for all budgets. Renowned artists like Kathy and Patrick Murillo,
Larry Yañez and Martin Moreno, in addition to emerging young
Hispanic artists, will be present for the two-day event.
"All of the artists who approached me about the Heard Museum
Spanish Market were very complimentary of the event and of
Phoenicians," explains Gina Laczko, educational services manager
for the Heard. "They appreciate the intimate quality of our market
and like to talk to visitors. To show an interest in an artists'
work - regardless of whether you buy something or not - is very
flattering."
The sounds of strolling mariachis greet visitors as they browse
the unique offering of artwork and crafts displayed among the
museum's arched colonnades and sculpture courtyards. And what is a
marketplace without food? Arcadia Farms at the Heard Café will be
serving their delicious Southwestern dishes. Guests are also
encouraged to visit the museums many exhibit galleries featuring
Native American art.

The Contemporary Hispanic Market organization is an
operating program of El Museo, providing a continuing opportunity
and the economic focus for participating artists to express the
lives of their dreams!
In the words of Governor Bill Richardson, "This event is an
important component in the preservation of New Mexico's artistic
history and the continuation of its legacy. The Annual
Contemporary Hispanic Market in Santa Fe is the nation's largest
Hispanic art event. It is only here that the public has the
opportunity to see and collect the work of so many renowned
contemporary Hispanic artists. Thanks to the efforts of the
coordinators of this event, all of the participating artists, and
the residents and visitors who attend the Hispanic Market, New
Mexico's tradition of excellence in the arts continues."
Armando will be exhibiting here.
